TK Maxx boosts sales by a third

Sales at British and Irish TK Maxx stores climbed by a third this summer.

The launch of shops with mezzanine floors and the chain's ongoing expansion continues to boost sales, said Edmond English, president and CEO of US parent TJX Companies.

The 132-store chain boosted sales by 33 per cent in the three months to July 26, to US$210 million (£130.8 million) across the UK and Ireland.

Like-for-like sales climbed 14 per cent, or 4 per cent at constant exchange rates.

English said: 'TK Maxx had a very strong quarter, delivering above-plan results.'
