Upmarket shirt retailer Thomas Pink will open a new-look store in the retail development at St Pancras International train station at the end of February.

Designed by London consultancy Four IV, which has worked with the retailer on a number of store designs, the 1,500 sq ft shop will have more free-standing centre-shop equipment than in other outlets.

Four IV director Chris Dewar-Dixon said that adaptations had to be made to the existing store blueprint because of the nature of the location, which features three full-glazed walls. As well as a solid wood floor, the store has a listed brickwork arch.

The front of the shop will be dominated by an illuminated high-gloss window display featuring Thomas Pink shirt boxes and shirts.

"It's quite an architectural fit and is aimed at the premium shopper who will be passing though St Pancras," said Dewar-Dixon.

Because shoppers at the new Eurostar terminal are likely to have less time to shop, a rapid payment system has been incorporated as part of the store design.

The elements of the St Pancras shop have also been included at the Heathrows Terminal 5 branch, where there will also be a rolling LED script that will provide travellers with information about movements on the FTSE. The Heathrow store will open at the end of March.

Four IV has also developed a new department store design for Thomas Pink that is due to be implemented at high-end retailers including Selfridges and Fenwicks.
