The Entertainer has strengthened its top team with four appointments as it expands its store and online operations.

The retailer has poached former Early Learning Centre executives Sue Dorkin, who joins as director of supply chain and John Goddard, who becomes director of property.

Dorkin will be responsible for implementing infrastructure changes across the group to support its planned expansion and Goddard will lead The Entertainer’s acquisition strategy.

The Entertainer has also promoted Stuart Grant, who was previously head of the Gadgetshop, to the post of director of buying. Company analyst Duncan Grant has been made director of multichannel, giving him responsibility for expanding the retailer’s web sites.

Managing director Gary Grant said: “The restructure will enable us to move from a medium-sized business to a large business.

“We’ve got scale and being an owner-operator and entrepreneur we can make quick decisions, unlike some of the bigger companies. We’re well-placed to benefit from the uncertain market.”

Amersham-based The Entertainer runs 41 shops in England and Wales and two web sites, TheToyShop.com and Gadgetshop.com.
