Deal agreed for 21 sites
Tesco is to buy 21 petrol stations from Morrisons, after approaching the rival supermarket almost a month ago.

The petrol stations were formerly part of a joint Safeway-BP venture and Tesco is expected to re-brand the sites under its Express convenience store format, subject to Office of Fair Trading approval.

Tesco was originally interested in 30 petrol stations and convenience stores. No sale price was available at the time of writing, but the 30 sites were valued at£55.3 million in August. BP is understood to be retaining four of the sites and the remaining five will be transferred to Somerfield.
