Tesco has added movies and TV shows to its digital download site Tesco Digital.

The grocer was already selling digital music through the site, and has added film and TV content which consumers can download to own.

It plans to add a download-to-rent option in the coming months.

Tesco is charging from£1.87 for a TV episode,£6.97 for a back-catalogue film and£10.97 for new release film for the download-to-own option.

Tesco is currently supplying content from entertainment firms such as Warner Bros and Sony Pictures Television International, and expects more content partners to come on board.

Tesco commercial director Graham Harris said: "We said back in April when we launched our site that our aim for the new Tesco Digital site was for it to be more than just a music download portal - we wanted to create an exciting and easy-to-use entertainment shop that Tesco customers of all technical ability can use and trust. This next development confirms we are doing just that."
