Tesco is reported to have been hit by till problems at 67 stores following a glitch caused by its overnight price changes process.

Problems were reported this morning at the main tills in stores as far afield as Essex, North Wales and Northern Ireland; although self-checkouts and petrol station tills were said to be still operating.

The Daily Mail reported a Tesco spokesperson as saying: “IT updates for price changes are normally run overnight but for some reason some stores were hit by a technical problem. But it is a tiny number of stores - we have 2,000 stores across the country and the majority were not affected.” Staff at stores with affected tills have had to reboot them.

The spokesperson added: ‘We have already heard of plenty of instances where stores have rectified the problem and we are very confident it will be cleared up very soon.”
