Amazon has rolled out its AI-powered fashion search tool to UK users of its mobile app, which enables customers to “shop visually” for the products they want.

StyleSnap is a tool inbuilt into the wider Amazon App that uses machine learning to allow customers to shop by uploading images of products they want and be matched with similar products available on the retailer’s wider marketplace.

The retailer said the tool considers “a variety of factors such as brand, price range, and customer reviews” when matching image searches with available stock.

Launched today, the feature currently works for searches on “dresses, tops, bottoms, shoes and bags” and supports both women’s and men’s clothing.

Amazon said it will also enable its “fashion influencers… to receive commissions of purchases they inspire”.

Vice president of Amazon Fashion Europe, John Boumphrey, said: “We are dedicated to continuously creating new experiences for customers to discover the products they want and love. StyleSnap enables customers to shop visually for products that have inspired them. We are excited to see what customers think.”

StyleSnap launched on the Amazon app in the US in June.

At the time, Amazon consumer worldwide chief executive Jeff Wilke said: “We are highly innovative and customer-obsessed, and we will continue to create new experiences for customers to discover the products they want and love. We are incredibly excited about StyleSnap and how it enables our customers to shop visually for fashion on Amazon.”
