Founder, Shutl

Tom Allason

The innovative delivery service, pioneered by Argos last Christmas and since adopted by retailers such as Aurora, has won awards by the bucketload, and it’s easy to see why. By offering 90-minute delivery by bike, Tom Allason, founder of Shutl, has raised the bar in online fulfilment and demonstrated that delivery needn’t be a barrier to online success – in fact it can become a positive competitive advantage.

Shutl uses a range of couriers to find ones available to fulfil orders, and while the cost is a little higher than traditional delivery options, for time-poor urban dwellers it has proved hugely popular, as well as improving perceptions of retailers such as Argos. While these shoppers may not necessarily want to venture into an Argos store, with Shutl, they don’t have to.
