Successful trial sees more B&Q mini-Warehouses

B&Q is to open four more 'mini-Warehouses' following the success of the first two in Ballymena and Caerphilly.

The store-type is simply branded B&Q, rather than Warehouse or Supercentre, and was tested by the DIY retailer over the summer.

The stores are bigger than Supercentres, but, at 4,645 sq m, are around half the size of Warehouses. B&Q has used advanced merchandising techniques to fit in 60 per cent of its Warehouse range.

B&Q opened the latest of the store-type, at Altrincham in Cheshire, last month.

A spokeswoman said: 'We'll also look at revamping other stores to the format that are in the right catchment.'

The store group is controlled by Kingfisher, and is the motor of its international DIY business.
