Shoe retailer Stylo has unveiled a new store concept for its Barratts chain as the group revealed pre-tax losses of £7.8 million for the year to February 2.

The new look (left), designed by Dalziel + Pow, launched this month at the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. A second new-format store will open this week in Liverpool.

Stylo chief executive Michael Ziff said that although Barratts has a good opportunity to increase market share following the administration of competitors such as Dolcis and Stead & Simpson, the sector remains challenging. “I am aiming to break even this year and that would be a big win in this environment,” he said.

David Lockyer has been appointed managing director of Barratts, following David Patrick’s resignation.
