Stansted Airport has signed up retailers including Oasis, Superdry and Hema to its £80m refurbishment of the international departure lounge.

Dutch retail giant Hema, which sells own-brand stationery, children’s games, toy and, homeware, will be making its debut in the UK retail travel market.

Other retailers to have signed up include Joules, East, Dune London, Sunglasses Boutique and Portuguese fashion accessory brand Parfois.

The refurbishment includes an introduction of Cloud Spa, representing the first beauty salon at Stansted.

Electricals retailer Red 5 will be located in the centre of the lounge ‘as a one-stop-shop’, while the refurb will see the return of the Best of the Best stand, which offers passengers the chance to win a car in a weekly competition.

Stansted Airport managing director Andrew Harrison said: “The £80m investment project to transform Stansted’s terminal and departure lounge is now in its third and final stage.

“Returning favourites and exciting new concepts have secured their positions and are set to open for business later this autumn.

“We only announced this ambitious investment programme two years ago so it’s a fantastic achievement to successfully deliver the project within such a tight timeframe and during a period of rapid passenger growth at Stansted.”

The first stage of the Stansted transformation project relocated security to a new area and introduced the largest walk-through World Duty Free in terms of retail space.

Phase two of the development increased the number of cafes, bars and restaurants, including those endorsed by celebrity chefs.

Property agent Harper Dennis Hobbs advised Hema, Oasis and Red5.
