Planning application for third phase of Northern Irish mall
Stannifer has lodged a planning application for a 65,000 sq ft (6,040 sq m) extension to Rushmere Shopping Centre's east mall. The project would take the centre, at Craigavon in Northern Ireland, to 515,000 sq ft (47,845 sq m). The application follows the successful completion of a 150,000 sq ft (13,935 sq m) extension, with Debenhams as anchor, which opened in October last year.

Stannifer development director William Evans said: 'We are looking to build on the success of Rushmere's recently opened extension. Trading at the scheme has increased significantly and the wider retail offer has drawn shoppers from across the border.'

The latest tenant to arrive at Rushmere is H&M, which opened a 17,500 sq ft (1,625 sq m) unit - its first in Ireland - at the end of February. Meanwhile, River Island has taken 8,000 sq ft (745 sq m) of space, and other new arrivals include Argos Extra, Superdrug, HMV, MKOne, Barratts, Topshop, Topman, Burton and Dorothy Perkins. Only three units remain available through the letting agent, McConnell Martin.
