Furniture retailer pleased with half-year figures despite a fall in like-for-like sales growth
ScS Upholstery's pre-tax profits have risen in the six months to March 31 compared with the same period a year ago. For the first 25 weeks of the half-year, the retailer's like-for-like sales order intake was up 7 per cent.

However, this is down on the 11 per cent like-for-like growth for the first 18 weeks of the financial year reported at the retailer's AGM. ScS said this was because of adverse winter weather. Easter sales were marginally ahead of corresponding revenues at Easter last year.

ScS operates 66 stores, a portfolio swelled by five store openings during the period. The retailer said it intended to continue its programme of store expansion.
