Moss Bros has hired new buying director Nick Reed, poaching from rival Charles Tyrwhitt for the appointment.

Reed was creative and design director at Charles Tyrwhitt from 2013, before which he was buying director for four years.

He will be tasked with driving sales growth across all channels but will give particular attention to the formalwear retailer’s online business.

The business said: “Reed’s experience in online buying will strengthen the Moss Bros product offering across all channels, while his creative flair will ensure the brand continues to build presence in the men’s tailoring market.”

Moss Bros chalked up another impressive performance at its last half years, with pre-tax profits up 30% to £3.7m in the 26 weeks to July 30, aided by the removal of its mid-season sale and more targeted discounting.

Like-for-likes were up 4.9%, driven by a 5.3% rise in retail while like-for-likes grew 2.8%.
