Primark has further expanded its presence in France with the opening of its first store in Paris.

The value fashion retailer opened a 59,000 sq ft store, set over one floor, in Hammerson’s O’Parinor shopping centre in the north east of the city over the weekend.

It joins retailers such as Sephora, Guess, Zara and H&M.

Primark made its French debut late last year with a shop in Marseille, quickly followed by a second in Dijon.

Parent company Associated British Foods finance director John Bason said earlier this year that Primark had a “great” opening in its first French store in Marseille Grand Littoral shopping centre. He said he was encouraged by the breadth of Primark’s appeal as its second store, a provincial shop in Dijon, was also performing well.

The addition of Primark is part of a €50m (£41.4m) revamp of O’Parinor, which attracts about 12 million visitors a year.
