Dixons Carphone and Argos have both launched Sales today that coincide with etail giant Amazon’s Prime Day promotional event.

Currys and PC World have launched a flash sale to compete with Amazon Prime Day

Currys and PC World are running 30-hour-long flash Sales on their websites, offering 30% off certain lines.

In a move that appears designed to take on Amazon head-on, the Dixons Carphone-owned brands are offering free delivery on all orders. Amazon’s Prime service offers subscribers free delivery.

The Currys and PC World Sales are only running online and end at midnight. There are just over 100 products included in the sale.

Meanwhile, Argos has launched a three-day promotional event today that ends on Friday. However, an Argos spokeswoman denied it was in response to Amazon Prime Day and said it was part of the retailer’s regular promotional calendar.

The Argos promotion is running both in-store and online.

Amazon Prime Day is offering double the number of deals that the etailer offered on Black Friday last year.

Products in the deal include 50-inch HD TVs from £230 and 50% off Bose noise-cancelling headphones.

Prime costs consumers £79 a year, entitling them to services such as unlimited one-day delivery of goods and streaming of films and TV episodes.

In some parts of London, members can get one-hour delivery on more than 10,000 items.

In the US, Walmart is running its own event with 2,000 deals and reducing the minimum order value for free shipping.
