Sainsbury’s is considering entering the Chinese market after revealing its management shake-up.

According to The Times, Sainsbury’s has already appointed consultants to explore the Chinese market. The reshuffle will see current finance director Darren Shapland take charge of business development.

Sainsbury’s has been focused on the UK since selling off its American business Shaw’s in 2004.

However, rival Tesco has had great success overseas, and already operates in China. Tesco is building 15 shopping centres there, anchored by its hypermarkets.
