Safeway to offer computer games in hypermarkets

Safeway is to launch a computer games offer in larger stores next month in a bid to benefit from one of retail's fastest-growing sectors.

The grocer is following rivals Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, which all carry a computer games range.

Safeway is to sell the most popular games for consoles from next month.

The retailer will initially retail the range in its five hypermarkets.

Safeway has increased its non-food range over the past year with the advent of its Megastore hypermarkets, which sell kitchenware, electricals and entertainment products.
