Rosebys picks KP0S for checkouts

Rosebys, one of the UK's largest home furnishings retailers, has awarded a£2 million contract to KPOS to overhaul its EPoS system. The acquisition marks a shift in EPoS suppliers for the company, because its existing Anker checkout system will be completely replaced.

'Rosebys has a quite diverse estate, from 1,000 sq ft (93 sq m) with only one terminal, to 25,000 sq ft (2,300 sq m),' said Rosebys IT director Peter Akester. 'KPOS could give us the functionality to deal with both situations.'

The system, running on IBM SurePOS 500 PC-based EPoS terminals, will be rolled out to the company's 250 Rosebys stores and 45 Fabric Warehouse outlets by early next year. Called Encore Version 2, the EPoS management system from KPOS runs via an IP network over Windows XP and SQL Server. It includes integrated EFT card handling, linked to Roseby's acquirer.

XP support was a contributory factor in KPOS winning the contract.

Akester said: 'In addition to faster customer service at the point-of-sale and easier staff training, (Encore) is an important part of our business strategy, with potential for .Net and Web integration.'
