M&S boss wants to make it more relevant
Stuart Rose has hailed London Fashion Week a success, but said he is driving hard to bring it 'more up to the minute'.

A show put on by Philip Green's Topshop was a particular success, although it is not yet clear whether the high street chain will be returning to the catwalk next season.

Rose, chairman of the British Fashion Council and chief executive of M&S, said: 'Some of the shows have been very well received and the event has caused a bit of excitement. Now we are looking at how we can make it more up to the minute and more relevant.'

Rose said the Topshop event, showcasing the retailer's high-end Unique brand (pictured), had been part of the show's experimental edge - the first time a high street retailer has presented at the main catwalk event. However, he said London Fashion Week was unlikely to feature shows by high street chains other than Topshop in the foreseeable future. He said he expected retailers to continue their involvement in other ways, such as through sponsorship.
