United Co-operatives member Sunwin Department Stores has placed a£880,000 order with Anker Systems for Microsoft Windows-based point of sale systems.
The scheme was piloted at Sunwin's Brighouse store, West Yorkshire, in December, and 146 terminals will be installed in 12 stores by September.
The system will provide centralised control of price, stock and promotion information, giving head office a real-time picture of profitability at all branches. It will also save store managers the trouble of compiling their own reports.
Sunwin development manager Marcus Skeratt said: 'We have chosen a system that allows us to increase quality of service and improve the availability of information.'
