Retail Solutions - New wins for NSB as JC Penney and Lindex sign deals

US department store chain JC Penney has signed a US$5 million (£3.1 million) contract with NSB for its Microsoft.NET-based Connected Retailer store system. The deal follows several profit warnings from NSB. Pilots are due to start later this year.

JC Penney has one of the largest EPoS installations in North America and had been looking for a replacement system for sometime.

The contract is one of the first for NSB's system and follows a recent win from Swedish fashion retailer Lindex, which will be the first to implement NSB's latest customer relationship management solution to integrate marketing campaigns in Scandinavia and Germany.

The company is tracking and reporting on customer purchasing patterns both individually and at the household level. It has thus been able to cut promotional costs by targeting a selected member of a household while monitoring the total household response to the offer.

Lindex is using a thin-client customer look-up facility so staff can have rapid access to information at a local level.
