Retail Solutions - JLP tackles price changes with Peak print units

John Lewis Partnership has installed a wireless mobile printing solution to cope with price changes on the shop floor.

The solution, from Peak Technologies, comprises 500 Zebra QL 320 mobile printers, to be used throughout the retailer's 26 stores. Each unit has a Symbol Wireless LAN card to receive updated pricing information in real time at any location in the store.

Accurate pricing has been identified as one of the key challenges to customer satisfaction by a number of surveys, including one published earlier this year by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. However, John Lewis has made it one of its unique selling points.

John Lewis analyst Huw John said: 'Because of our Never Knowingly Undersold policy and assortment of approximately 500,000 lines, we experience huge volumes of price changes, which have to be managed in-store.

'Peak's mobile printing solution is proven to help our selling partners to produce high-quality replacement price tickets quickly, which in turn helps our customers identify the correct product and right price information.'
