Retail Solutions - Entrepreneurs prefer Internet for new business

Three specific fears are driving new retailers to the Internet, according to a report sponsored by payment specialist Actinic.

The survey of 1,000 UK adults by researchers Ipsos, found that 40 per cent would choose retail as a new business idea, but fear of robbery would deter 61 per cent of those from setting up in the high street. The next two prime concerns were lack of funds and not attracting enough customers.

According to Actinic CEO Chris Barling, retail entrepreneurs prefer to set up online because of the lack of opportunities for physical crime, the comparative costs to set up on the Internet and the global reach to customers.
