Electricals retailer Comet has chosen to equip its 245 stores with 2,200 Dione payment terminal and PIN pads as part of its strategy to upgrade to Chip and PIN payments.
The terminals will be linked to Comet's IBM EPoS systems running Retail Logic software. Implementation will take place between now and July.
Retailers have until January 1 next year to implement Chip and PIN payment systems that are compliant with the EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) standard.
After this date, retailers will become liable for the cost of card fraud.
