Retail Property - Halladale aims to give Chapel High a facelift

Developer Halladale has lodged a planning application for the regeneration of the Chapel High shopping centre in Brentwood, Essex.

As well as comprehensively refurbishing the shopping malls and the exterior, Halladale plans to rename the mall the Bay Tree Centre.

The design, by Bernard Engle Architects, envisages two new large stores, a better range of larger unit shops, two cafes/coffee shops and a health and fitness unit.

If planning permission is granted by mid-July, refurbishment work will start at the end of this year and be completed by autumn next year.

Halladale property director Ken Lindsay said: 'The attraction of new retailers, leisure operators and cafes to the centre will make Brentwood a better place to shop, visit and enjoy. The regeneration proposals will create a completely refurbished shopping centre in a safe and secure environment.'
