Retail Property - Ayr gets green light for £50m retail scheme

Planning permission has been granted for a£52 million retail scheme in the centre of Ayr, in Scotland.

The Ayr Central scheme, being developed by Henry Boot, will provide 200,000 sq ft (19,235 sq m) of retail space build around an open shopping streetscape.

An 84,000 sq ft (7,800 sq m) department store is planned, plus 20 retail units from 900 sq ft (85 sq m).

Henry Boot Developments Scotland development manager Alan Kinloch said: 'Ayr will finally have a town centre worthy of its population.'

Culverwell and Springford & C have been appointed as Ayr Central's joint letting agents.
