Republic to hire finance chief as growth continues

Fashion retailer Republic, which sells own-brand and other labels, is on the hunt for a new finance director as it ramps up its aggressive expansion programme.

Incumbent finance director Ron Scott will move to a more strategic role and focus on property. 'We need more senior people. It's as simple as that,' said Scott. He is looking for someone 'young and dynamic'.

Republic, which rebranded from Best Company in 2002, opened 10 stores over the past 10 months and wants to have 'at least' 50 shops by the end of this year. The target is more than the 45 originally aimed for by 2005. The retailer has 40 stores, 35 of which have been converted from Best Company.
