Fashion retailer Republic has reported a rise of over 30 per cent in EBITDA to £17.2 million for the year to January 27.

Total sales grew 11.6 per cent to£120.7 million with like-for-like sales up 6.1 per cent for the year.

During the period eight new stores were opened during the period, Republic now has 93 stores nationwide.

Republic chief executive Tim Whitworth said: “I am pleased to report on yet another year of record growth at Republic. With the combination of a great team and partnership base, we have jointly achieved a highly respectable set of results.”

He added: “We expect the environment over the critical Christmas period and well into 2009 to remain challenging for all retailers. We are not immune to these challenges, however, we believe our target market and model to be resilient and dynamic in enabling us to continue to exceed our customer’s expectations and grow market share."
