Radley has appointed Sven Gaede as its new chief executive.

Gaede will start at the handbag and accessories retailer on May 4 and replaces outgoing boss Roger Best who announced his retirement in January.

Gaede has had previous roles at Richemont Group’s Hackett and Dunhill chains and most recently was appointed chief executive of e-tailer Net-a-Porter, where he left after less than six months at the helm.

Radley chairman Paul Mason said: ”Sven was chosen from an impressive list of interested candidates. I am confident that he has the right skills and relevant experience to build on the success of the Radley brand both in the UK and internationally.”

Radley said in its year to April sales grew 10 per cent despite the difficult trading climate.
