Property News - Zara moves into Centre West

Zara is to open its second Scottish store as part of a series of new lettings agreed at British Land's Centre West shopping complex in East Kilbride.

Zara will occupy more than 16,500 sq ft (1,530 sq m) on two levels for only its second Scottish store after Princes Street, Edinburgh.

Terms have also been agreed with Mango and Jane Norman for two of the few remaining units. The three will complement the centre's existing fashion mix, which includes Debenhams, Next, USC, River Island and French Connection.

More than 90 per cent of the floorspace in Centre West is now let or committed, with Subway taking 1,474 sq ft (135 sq m) in the centre's restaurant cluster, and Ottakar's bookstore committing to a 3,500 sq ft (325 sq m) unit at the interface between Centre West and The Plaza Centre, also owned by British Land.

Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Zara and Gooch Cunliffe Whale acted for Ottakar's. Lunson Mitchell, Donaldsons and McParlane & Co are the letting agents.
