Property News - Retailers show Putney confidence

The Merrill Lynch Property Fund has agreed two new lettings at the Exchange Shopping Centre, Putney, south-west London.

Videogame retailer Game has leased Unit 28 in the centre, which comprises 1,345 sq ft (125 sq m) of ground floor sales space and 420 sq ft (40 sq m) of storage space, for a 15-year term at£78,500 a year.

And Unit 29, which comprises 1,040 sq ft (100 sq m) of ground floor sales space with 425 sq ft (40 sq m) of basement ancillary space has been let to jewellery retailer Ernest Jones on a 15-year lease at a stepped rent rising from£60,000 to£63,500 a year over the first five years.

Blair Kirkman partner Nick Symons, the joint letting agent with Phoenix Beard, said: 'These lettings, which have driven rental levels to£100 Zone A, are a clear sign of the confidence retailers have in the Exchange Shopping centre and its growing reputation with shoppers.'

Lunson Mitchenall acted for Game and King Sturge represented Ernest Jones.
