Property News - Northpoint lets underline Hull's retail reputation

A major extension to CIT Group's Northpoint Shopping Centre on Hull's northern outskirts has been fully let, reinforcing the centre's claims as a leading regional retail destination.

Wilkinson has taken a 21,000 sq ft (1,950 sq m) unit, Netto 12,000 sq ft (1,115 sq m) and Toymaster 4,000 sq ft (370 sq m). A final 1,800 sq ft (165 sq m) unit is under offer.

CIT retail asset management director Howard Grace said: 'The arrival of Wilkinson, Netto and Toymaster is further endorsement of the centre's reputation as one of the strongest district shopping centres in the north of England.'

The 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sq m) centre provides 58 units, let to retailers including Boots, Kwik Save, New Look and Peacocks. It attracts more than 110,000 shoppers every week.

Stuart Lunn, associate director at Northpoint's joint letting agent DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, said: 'Retail demand always outstrips supply at Northpoint.' He added that a further five lettings are due to be announced by September.

Rees Denton are joint letting agents with DTZ. Proctors acted for Netto. Wilkinson and Toymaster represented themselves.
