Property News - New Look store attracts tenants to Wheatsheaf

Quintain has agreed a series of new lettings at its Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre at Rochdale in Greater Manchester, triggered by the arrival of New Look in the centre.

The womenswear retailer has taken a 770 sq m unit on the upper level of the centre, as part of its strategy to relocate the top 150 UK stores onto bigger sites. New Look has agreed to take a new 15-year FRI lease at£110,000 per annum.

To make way for the store, two of the centre's existing tenants have been relocated. County Books has signed a new 15-year lease on 290 sq m on the mall's upper level at£35,000 per annum. Partners the Stationers has taken 190 sq m at£35,000 per annum.

DTZ Debenham Tie Leung is the letting agent. Associate director Fergus Keane said: 'New Look has a 13 per cent slice of the ladieswear market between the ages of 12 and 45. This will have an extraordinarily strong impact on the Wheatsheaf's core customer footfall in the coming months.'

Dalgleish & Co represented New Look. King Sturge advised County Books.
