Property News - Cumbernauld complex gets the green light

The Scottish Executive has cleared the way for an on-site start for the 350,000 sq ft (32,500 sq m) Antonine Shopping Centre in Cumbernauld, with the approval of amendments to London & Regional Properties' planning application.

The Antonine Centre will provide 32 units linking into existing phases of Cumbernauld shopping.

The developer has already signed pre-lettings with Tesco for 86,000 sq ft (8,000 sq m), Dunnes Stores for 43,000 sq ft (4,000 sq m) and H&M for 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sq m), and is in talks with other retailers, including Next Arcadia and JD Sports. Work will commence in September 2003 with a projected opening in autumn 2004.
