Property News - Conran to open Glasgow eateries

Conran has signed up for two new restaurants in the Princes Square shopping centre in Glasgow. The retailer-turned-restaurateur will open a Zinc Bar & Grill and etain - Conran's first destination restaurant in the UK outside London, in what was formerly the mall's food terrace.

At the same time, Salty Dog, a Mediterranean-style cocktail bar/seafood concept, has taken a 3,500 sq ft (350 sq m) unit with plans to open in autumn later this year. And women's fashion retailer Whistles is expanding into a 1,500 sq ft (140 sq m) unit on a 10-year lease at£112,500 a year.

Tenants at the five-level Princes Square include Jo Malone, Bo Concept, Ted Baker, CK Underwear, Space NK, Zizzi, French Connection, Penhaligons, Crabtree & Evelyn, and specialist children's retailer HL Kiffer.

Equity Partnerships, asset manager for Hermes and Insight Investment Management, reports a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in turnover at the scheme, which is outperforming the rest of Glasgow's city centre.

Equity Partnerships director Nigel Mogridge said: 'This is great for Glasgow and great for Princes Square. We are continually striving to give our customers that little bit extra and two Conran offers will combine serious shopping and destination dining in this unique environment.'
