AWG Developments is to invest£12.5 million in the regeneration of Cambuslang, on the south bank of the Clyde - six miles from Glasgow - to create a new town centre.
The 3 acre (1.2 ha) site, which will replace the existing town centre precinct bordering Main Street, Bank Street and Alison Drive, will provide a mixed-use scheme comprising 32,730 sq ft (3, 040 sq m) of retail space, office and civic buildings, 39 apartments and a 200-space car park.
Negotiations have begun with a range of retailers for a variety of retail units.
Demolition work is under way, with completion scheduled for next summer.
