Poundstretcher growth ambition

Poundstretcher could grow to as many as 650 stores in the next few years, more than doubling retail space to over 400,000 sq m.

Angus Monro and his team are revamping Poundstretcher, and a store relocation programme is in progress. About 110 shops have been deemed too small or off-pitch.

The re-siting programme is not a cost cutting exercise, but more like Arcadia's BrandMax programme, said Monro.

A new store design and fascia will be unveiled in Newcastle in September.

Brown & Jackson, or B&J, which had been possibilities, have been scrapped.

'The names we are testing are more generic and fun than that,' he added.
