John Lewis Partnership chair Dame Sharon White has recorded a video paying tribute to Waitrose and John Lewis staff’s efforts to fight coronavirus and help those affected by the outbreak.
White, who took the helm at the retailer earlier this year at a time of profound and disruptive change, said she wanted “to thank every partner for their dedication” during the crisis. Many John Lewis department store staff have switched to working for Waitrose to deal with the rush of food shoppers.
In the video, featuring selfies from partners in stores, warehouses and head office, White said partners’ combined efforts had enabled the business “to do more for frontline NHS workers, provide essential care packages to hundreds of hospitals and to do more for elderly and vulnerable customers”.
