What was your first job in retailing?

Opening my boutique Powder in Crouch End.

Which retail company do you admire most and why?

Asos. Not only is Nick Robertson a pioneer of online retail, but he has created a global online community with fashion retail at its heart, across a multitude of platforms.

What is the trait you least like in yourself and why?

My impatience. I’m always looking at the next thing.

Who have you learnt most from in your retail career?

I’m lucky to have a strong board of directors, which includes Nick Wheeler and Jean Marc Bouhelier, who provide support and a wealth of experience.

What advice would you give someone starting out in retail?

Get under the skin of your market and target audience. The retail landscape is changing so fast and as a retailer you need to adapt to those changes.

What keeps you awake at night?

The thought of getting up in time to get my son Jake to school, going for a run and then catching the train to London.

What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Having the opportunity to lead a passionate and creative team that inspire me on a daily basis. It’s rewarding to be able to drive the growth of the business with a team that is as equally passionate as you are.

What’s your proudest achievement?

The recognition that we receive from the industry and press on a daily basis. I believe it’s the best public testament to the team’s hard work across all areas of the business, which is acknowledged by our peers.

What job would you have done if you hadn’t become a retailer?

A boutique florist.

What’s your favourite shop and why?

Flamant in Paris, which is an amazing interiors shop, where everything looks like it could be unique with its own history.

Bobbi Brown black gel eye liner.
