John Lovering was today announced the new chairman of industry charity Retail Trust.

He is scheduled to replace the current chair Dudley Cloake in September 2011.

Lovering has previously served as the charity’s President of Appeal, and has worked in retail for over 25 years. His former appointments include chairman of Homebase, Peacocks, Somerfield and Debenhams.

Nigel J L Rothband, CEO of the Retail Trust, said that they “have been very lucky to secure the involvement of John”.

The Retail Trust offers support and advice to the 3 million people working in retail, as well as grants and other financial assistance.
