Alice Boaten, regional manager at Sainsbury’s Argos and member of Be Inspired’s Senior Leadership Academy, was named Woman of the Year at the Barclaycard Everywoman in Retail Awards this month.

Boaten joined Sainsbury’s Argos as a temporary colleague for Christmas 2002 and undertook various roles within the retailer until reaching her current position.

The judges credited Boaten for her drive and ambition for change and career progression, despite her unorthodox career path. She was also recognised for her commitment to diversifying the workforce.

Inspired to success

The Senior Leadership Academy is a 12-month programme for talented and ambitious senior directors, running a number of tailored workshops and masterclasses to help them on the path to becoming the next female chief executives and future Be Inspired ambassadors.

“I genuinely feel the programme helped me in so many ways and will continue to do so”

Speaking to Be Inspired, Boaten said: “I’ve learnt so much from the Be Inspired sessions that I’ve adapted and use in my day to day. I genuinely feel the programme helped me in so many ways and will continue to do so.”

The 2018/19 Senior Leadership Academy will conclude at the Senior Leadership Summit on November 21, with a guestlist including both new and existing Be Inspired ambassadors, HR directors and VIP guests.

The summit will also welcome the next cohort of aspiring women to the 2019/20 programme.
