Operational review kicks in at Gymboree

Babywear and toddler's fashion group Gymboree is to continue an operational review following the closure of underperforming stores and a reorganisation of its operations team.

The retailer closed its Lakeside store last month, and one in Stirling last year. It now has 24 stores in the UK.

Gymboree moved its head office from Leicester to London in October and will continue to centralise its operations in the capital. Instead of two district managers, zone managers now head a team of six area managers responsible for a handful of shops.

A new managing director Craig Nomura was recruited from Gymboree's US parent last year to head the operational review. Gymboree has more than 570 stores worldwide.
