Online retailer Confetti is to expand beyond its core wedding products range as it looks to grow.
Owner and IT entrepreneur George Buchan, who bought the business out of administration in September last year, said it was looking to launch new party products in the next nine to 12 months.
Buchan registered the new company as Confetti Celebrations, although it will continue to trade as Confetti.
Buchan said: “Given that we have the infrastructure in place there are no additional overheads needed to branch out beyond wedding products.”
The online retailer’s web sales are up 20% year-on-year since Christmas. Buchan said it is on track to notch up turnover of £3m in his first year as owner and he expects this to increase by between 20% to 25% next year.
Buchan did not rule out opening stores again but said there were no immediate plans to.
The entrepreneur said improvements in visual presentation and interactivity would offset not having a bricks-and-mortar presence. Confetti has introduced a ‘live chat’ capability on its site for instance, where shoppers can have interactive dialogue with its sales advisers.
