Grocer still on course to close three UK depots
Grocery group Morrisons remains on course to close three UK distribution premises, despite staging talks with unions last week aimed at averting strikes.

The GMB trade union, which took part in the negotiations, said: 'This review [of the depot closures] had taken place without any involvement of the workforce or unions. Morrisons has conducted themselves in an underhand, dishonest and disgraceful way.'

Morrisons has yet to confirm whether the closures, which would mean the loss of 2,500 jobs, will take place. However, it is expected that the retailer would encourage affected staff to apply for positions elsewhere within the Morrisons group.
