Electricals web site also planned
High street and catalogue retailer Next is about to make a move into television shopping, in a trial partnership with Ideal Shopping Direct. The deal will involve selling the group's clothing and home furnishing products through Ideal's TV channels.

Next told the Financial Times it was a 'very tiny trial and will consist of a handful of programmes only'.

Recently, the fashion chain announced it would be piloting an electricals web site, selling goods such as fridges and televisions online.

Last week, Next revealed its worst trading figures for three years, with like-for-like sales down 9 per cent.

Ideal Shopping Direct has been in talks with a number of branded high street retailers with the aim of setting up similar projects over the coming months.
