The Berkeley Group has unveiled plans for a second phase of development at its successful Gunwharf Quays outlet and leisure scheme at Portsmouth in Hampshire.
The new phase will provide an additional 7,000 sq m of retail space, as well as a Holiday Inn Express hotel to add to the 35,000 sq m already developed.
The new space will be located in the City Quay area of the development, which will form a link between the commercial and residential elements of Gunwharf Quays.
A permanent outdoor events space, to be known as Gunwharf Quays Plaza, will become the heart of the development, surrounded by 1,500 sq m of additional designer outlets and the new hotel.
The balance of the new retail and restaurant space will be located on the south side of City Quay and will comprise 1,255 sq m of ground floor retail aimed at speciality and niche operators.
Berkeley head of retail and leisure leasing Sarah Royle-Johnson said: 'Gunwharf Quays has been a success, with more than 5 million visitors in its first year and the majority of tenants far out-performing their expectations.'
