Yeomans, the 82-store outdoors specialist acquired in July by former Deutsche Bank distressed debt trader Jason Granite, has hired former Go Outdoors head of buying and merchandising Chris Boardman.
He will lead Yeomans’ buying and merchandising team and the appointment reunites him with Granite – the pair previously worked together in 2004 when Granite bought the debt of Stationery Box, which he subsequently sold to Theo Paphitis.
Granite has also replaced about half of Yeomans’ area managers. He is thought to be considering whether to launch private-label product next spring and may bring in a chief executive.
A source suggested that Granite may intend to trade Yeomans over the long term. In the past he has frequently liquidated the businesses whose debt he acquired, including Envy, Faith Shoes and Internacionale.
