New Look will roll out successful flagship concepts in large stores

Fashion retailer New Look will introduce elements of its£3 million Oxford Street flagship to its top stores following a trial period.

Group development director Carl McPhail said customer feedback at the shop, which opened last week, will be collected over the next few months and compared to previous research in other stores. A decision will then be taken about which elements to introduce to the top 20 stores in the 500-outlet business.

'We own the copyright to all the elements, so when we assess customers' reactions we can easily decide which bits to introduce elsewhere,' he said.

McPhail said stores refurbished with the new fit will be larger outlets in city centres or key shopping centres with a footprint of 20,000 sq ft (1,860 sq m) or more.

Analyst Nick Bubb of Evolution Beeson Gregory praised the Oxford Street shop and said it 'has to be seen to be believed'.

McPhail said the former Oxford Street flagship has been closed for 'freshening up' and will reopen in eight weeks. However, the store will not carry the new design because it is below the required footprint.
