Scottish outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Nevisport has fallen into liquidation just two weeks after it was reportedly bought by Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley for £2.5 million.

Last week, five of Nevisport’s 12 UK stores were closed including outlets in Newcastle, Leeds and Glasgow.

Although its other shops have stayed open, the future of its 91 employees remains in doubt.

KPMG head of restructuring and joint liquidator for Nevisport Blair Nimmo said: “Our immediate priority is to ensure the business continues to trade with the support of the employees as we seek a buyer for all or parts of the business.”
